Evanston Library Learns

About the Program

Welcome to Evanston Library Learns!!

Evanston Library Learns (or “ELL”) is a 12 week training program for staff of the Evanston Public Library that begins July 21, 2008.

This program will include 23 Things — elements of learning that can be completed on the web to explore and expand your knowledge of the Internet and Web 2.0.

Staff are encouraged to complete the Things on this list by October 12, 2008 in order to to receive a prize* and be entered into the drawing for an even better prize*!

Each Thing requires you to post to a blog that you will create in Thing #3. Your progress will be tracked on a regular basis via your blog.

Every week, new Things on the list will be activated. They should be completed in order as each new step builds from the previous one.

In order to complete each Thing, here’s what you need to do:

  • read the corresponding Evanston Library Learns Blog post,
  • follow the step-by-step instructions for the Discovery Exercise,
  • write a little bit about it on your blog (which you will set up in Thing #3).

That’s it! Very simple!

If you’d like to write more, feel free! Your blog can be about anything you want, as long as you write one post for each Thing.

Remember, this program is about discovery and play! We want you to have fun and not worry too much about “doing it the right way.”
